Here on the frontier, There are falling leaves, Although my neighbors are all barbarions…And you? You are a thousand miles away. There are always two cups on my table.

The Professor, Bart and China on an Ordinary Day

If you have lived at all,
Any number of years,
Then you know,
What I’m talking about.

When I say.

Thank God,for another ordinary day.

No one has woken up,
On the wrong side,
Of the bed.

Both cars are in,
the driveway.

All tires are,
inflated,
and the garbage cans,
are where they
should be.

Everyone finds something to eat,
For breakfast,
and there’s enough coffee,
for everyone.

It’s not too hot out,
it’s not too cold.

There’s still oily water in,
the Gulf,
but no new wars today.

My child overseas,
is coming home,
soon.

Obama said the “A” word,
and brought,
us all down
a notch.

But no one seems to notice.

No early ,morning phone calls,
For emergencies.

No one died,
In the night.

No babies lost.

No crises to shake,
this ordinary day.

  1. Take a moment to appreciate the days where you are not sitting in the emergency room,or dressing for a funeral.
’cause you know those days come..
Join me in thanking God for the ordinary days.
    If yours isn’t ordinary.
    Let me know.

  2. To read more about China see the post titled “A Mother Is Only As Happy As Her Saddest Child”.
For Bart, see “Bart Is Into Biofuels”,
and for the Professor see the post,
    “Qustions We Never Dare Ask”.
